Coupe d’Afrique des Nations

As we return to school in January, African teams will be competing in the Coupe d’Afrique des Nations. I wrote a series of lessons to review high frequency vocabulary while getting to know the participating countries better and diving deeper into understanding the Ivory Coast, the host country for the competition.

Join me in using authentic documents that look at these countries from a local perspective using this set of slides. I hope you find these lessons to be engaging and relevant for your students while also a way to enrich your conversations and create new contexts for communication.

To review people and cultural products, students can do this Scavenger Hunt.

In early January some students may still be away on trips or out due to illness. These lessons could be a way to ease back into academics all while bringing a greater cultural competency for learners. Best of luck and happy new year.
